CA1119 Dancing Faun and Faunesse Statuettes by Moncassin
Very rare and unusual pair of early 20th century small neo classical patinated bronze statuettes of a dancing faun and faunesse, or Bacchinalian satyrs. Both stamped H.R.M., for Henri-Raphaël Moncassin (1883-1958). The son of the sculptor François Moncassin, Henri won the Prix de Rome in 1904, studied in Italy in 1908 and was made an Officier d’Académie in 1914. Mounted on beautiful truncated Bracatello marble cones with white Carrara marble bases. France, early 20th Century, circa 1910.
