CA1143 French Empire Red Marble Borne Clock

Imposing, large scale early 19th Century French empire ormolu mounted red marble or 'rouge griotte' borne shaped mantel clock. Gilt bronze bezel and white dial with lovely central classical design signed 'Acrain a Paris' encircled with stars. Horologer recorded in Tardy (Acrin a Paris) as working in Paris between 1806 and 1812. Circa 1810. Very heavy.
