CA1144 Napoleon III Retour d'Egypte Fireplace Fender

Superb Napoleon III period ormolu and steel Egyptian Revival or Retour d'Egypt adjustable fireplace fender. The two ends mounted with gilt bronze winged sphinx over a winged sun disk flanked with uraeus. Pierced Egyptian design adjustable bar with gilt bronze central sun disk, entwined uraeus and lotus flowers, after the antique. French, circa 1860.
