CA0160 Grand Tour model of a Roman bath in Marmo Rosso marble
Rare and interesting, late 19th century Italian Grand Tour marmo rosso marble reduction of a classical vasca or bath after the antique Roman original from the Baths of Caracalla and now a fountain in the Piazza Farnese in Rome. Beautifully carved with a larger than usual central lion fountain head mask, ring side handles and lion paw feet. Unusualy the mask and rings are only carved on the front face. Mounted on a black marble base. Rome, circa 1890.
