CA0197 Fine Pair of Empire Diana and Apollo bronzes attributed to Feuchère
An extremely fine pair of French Empire period patinated bronze statuettes depicting the classical goddess Diana the Huntress and a youthful Apollo playing his lyre in the manner of bronzier Pierre-François Feuchère (1737-1823). Diana is depicted with her bow, quiver and arrows standing on a classical patinated bronze plinth. Apollo is nude but for a cloak and is holding his lyre. Pierre-François Feuchère workshop was one of the most important in Paris producing luxury bronze items supplying the royal court of Napoleon as well as German, Russian and Spanish nobility.
