CA0256 Beautiful Grand Tour watercolour of the Forum of Nerva
Beautifully detailed 19th century Grand Tour watercolour of the Forum of Nerva in Rome by the italian artist Mariano de Franceschi (1849-1896). Superb painting of the remaining facade of the ruins with picturesque scene of locals. Signed 'M De Francesch Roma'. Fine example presented in an attractive understated ebonised frame. Mariano de Franceschi studied at the Academia di San Luca in Rome, made his debut in Rome in 1876 at the annual exhibition 'Amatori e Cultori' with a still life, he exhibited his work on numerous occasions, including the national exhibition in Turin in 1884. He also exhibited in Rome, in 1888, Capri and Venice, among other cities. Italy, Rome, circa 1880.
