Fine French Empire period mantel clock depicting ‘Love Moving the Heavens’. Fire gilded bronze and blue enamel. 8 day silk suspension movement signed ‘L Grognot à Paris’. Grognot is recorded in both Tardy and Baille working out of the Rue des Fontaines du Temple in 1810 and Place du Palais-Royal in 1812. He is also recorded in the ‘Almanach du Commerce de Paris’ in 1811 at the Rue de Fontaines du Temple. An identical clock, but with different legs, can be seen at the Musée Carnavalet.
