CA0297 Impressive fine pair of French Empire candelabra

Very impressive pair of bronze French Empire six light candelabra depicting winged victories holding cornucopias in each hand. Beautiful spreading stem with a feather crown, three scrolling foliate cast branches with griffins, palmettes, flower heads and acanthus decorated candle cups. Fabulous large scale dark patinated figures of winged victories: well cast and chased, standing on classically inspired plinth bases with two winged putto pilasters to the sides and a vestal type figural mount to the front face. Almost definately inspired by the ornamental vocabulary of important French designers of Percier and Fontaine. Bronzier unknown but have similarities to examples attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire and Claude Galle. France, circa 1810.
Provenance: From the Estate of a Distinguished Private Collector. Christie's The Collector Sale, November 2021, Lot 582.
