CA0332 Rare set of allegorical Four Seasons bronzes
A rare 19th century decorative set of four allegorical patinated bronze figurines of ancient goddesses emblematic of the seasons of the year. The goddess Demeter holding a single wheat stork and a sickle symbolising summer. Flora carrying a flower wreath and a dove representing spring. Autumn is depicted as a maenad with vine leaves in her hair and a cup of wine and winter is represented by a naked female covered only with a scarf. Each figure mounted on Sienna marble block bases. French or Italian, circa 1850.
